David Ornstein: Liverpool Forward Alexander Isak Faces ‘Serious’ Injury After Tottenham Clash

 

 

Liverpool are concerned that striker Alexander Isak has suffered a serious leg injury following their recent win against Tottenham Hotspur, according to David Ornstein. Isak, who came off the bench, scored in the second half by expertly finishing a through ball from Florian Wirtz, but collided with Micky Van de Ven during the goal and was forced to leave the pitch, visibly in pain.

Ornstein reports that the club is awaiting scan results but fears the injury to his lower leg could be significant. With Mohamed Salah away at the African Cup of Nations, this period had been seen as an opportunity for Isak and Hugo Ekitike to gain playing time. Manager Arne Slot now faces limited attacking options and will need to manage Ekitike carefully.

Journalist Mike Keegan has stated that Liverpool do not believe Isak has suffered an ACL injury, though the setback is still considered serious.
