“Arne Slot ‘Furious’ With Liverpool Star – Seems He Just ‘Doesn’t Like Him’”

 

Arne Slot was reportedly left “furious” by one Liverpool player’s display last season, and it seems a single game may have shaped the player’s future at Anfield. Recently, the Dutch manager has faced a very public fallout with star forward Mohamed Salah, but claims have emerged that there’s another first-team player Slot is less fond of.

 

Much discussion among Liverpool fans has centered on how Slot has handled former Juventus forward Federico Chiesa. Notably, Chiesa was Slot’s first—and only—signing in his debut season at Anfield. However, one match last season reportedly infuriated the manager.

 

According to Lewis Steele of Mail Sport, Slot’s frustration stemmed from Chiesa’s performance during Liverpool’s 1-0 FA Cup shock loss to Plymouth Argyle. As one of the senior players on the pitch, the 28-year-old forward allegedly failed to deliver, leaving the Reds’ boss visibly annoyed. Steele added during a Liverpool Q&A session that this early cup exit may have caused a lasting rift between the player and manager:

 

“Slot, wouldn’t mind me saying, doesn’t seem to trust him. From what I gathered, after the Plymouth loss, Slot was furious with Chiesa. He was one of the senior players that day, but didn’t seem to perform. Several people mentioned how frustrated Slot was.”

 

Despite making several notable appearances off the bench this season, Chiesa has yet to start a Premier League or Champions League match. Speculation suggests Slot simply “doesn’t like” the Italian international:

 

“I think Chiesa needs to prove to Slot that he deserves a chance. If you keep losing, you won’t get a game. It even seems that maybe Slot doesn’t like him at all. Even if Chiesa scored every week from the bench, he might still not start.”

 

This season, Chiesa has played fewer than 400 minutes, with nearly half coming from two full EFL Cup matches before Liverpool’s exit. While Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Alexander Isak have struggled for goals, Chiesa has still not forced his way into regular selection.
