Spurs Finalize Move to Re-Sign Former Academy Midfielder from CD Atlético Baleares

Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with CD Atlético Baleares to re-sign former academy midfielder Armando Shashoua, a move earlier confirmed by Fabrizio Romano. The deal brings back a player nurtured in Spurs’ youth system who went on to build his career in Spain, with the club confident his return will inject depth, energy, and familiarity into their midfield. Reacquiring an academy graduate also fits neatly with Tottenham’s long-term plan to reinforce both the first team and development pathway while restoring a strong homegrown foundation.

Shashoua first joined Spurs in 2008 at the age of eight and quickly earned a reputation for his technical quality, intelligent movement, and calmness on the ball. Although he trained with the senior side, he did not make a competitive appearance and moved to Atlético Baleares on loan in 2020—a stint that proved decisive, as the Spanish club soon made the transfer permanent.

From 2020 to 2022, he enjoyed the most productive spell of his career, featuring 43 times and scoring four goals for Baleares. His consistency, work ethic, and football intelligence made him an important figure and attracted attention from other clubs in Spain. He later moved to Ibiza in 2022, making 10 appearances, before a loan spell at Córdoba in early 2023 added a further 10 games to his experience.

Shashoua returned to Atlético Baleares toward the end of 2023 and went on to play 26 matches, scoring once during the 2023–24 season. His continued progress reportedly kept Tottenham monitoring his development, with the club viewing him as a low-risk addition who offers potential upside. Familiar with Spurs’ culture and registered as a homegrown player, he is expected to raise training levels, provide squad rotation, and offer tactical flexibility.

Atlético Baleares have voiced pride in seeing Shashoua move back to a Premier League club, while also acknowledging that his exit leaves a significant void after three productive spells with the side.

The midfielder is said to be thrilled at the opportunity to return to North London, completing a full-circle move back to the club where his journey began.
