Big-name European side reaches out to Liverpool star amid growing transfer talks
AC Milan are reportedly preparing a bold attempt to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, according to Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
The Rossoneri are expecting Mike Maignan to leave at the end of the season, with Chelsea said to be leading the chase for the French shot-stopper. As a result, Milan have already initiated early contact with Alisson’s camp.
Maignan, 30, has been a key player for Milan since arriving from Lille, but Premier League interest now appears likely to pull him away. Chelsea view him as a long-term solution in goal, with Robert Sánchez not fully convincing.
Milan eye Alisson as top target
Anticipating Maignan’s departure, sporting director Igli Tare has quickly turned his attention to potential replacements—placing Alisson at the top of the list. The Italian giants believe the Brazilian would bring both top-level experience and strong leadership to their defence.
Tavolieri reports that initial discussions have already taken place to assess Alisson’s interest and the practicality of a summer move.
Now 33, Alisson remains one of Liverpool’s most influential figures. Since joining from AS Roma in 2018 for a then-record £67 million, he has played a central role in winning both the Premier League and Champions League.
However, with his contract running until June 2027, his future could become a major talking point next summer. By then, Liverpool will be 18 months away from needing to decide whether to extend his deal or consider a sale, especially during a period of transition under Arne Slot.
Could Liverpool let Alisson go?
While many within the club view Alisson as irreplaceable, others feel that cashing in before his value declines might be a pragmatic move given the squad’s other rebuild needs.
Liverpool remain focused on their Premier League and Champions League campaigns, while Milan are locked in a tight Serie A title race.
