Andy Robertson Shares How the Liverpool Squad Responded to Mo Salah’s Interview

 

 

 

Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson has addressed the ongoing Mohamed Salah situation after Arne Slot’s men sealed a 1-0 Champions League win over Inter Milan.

 

Salah was absent from the squad after being left out of the travelling group, a decision made in the wake of his explosive post-match comments following the 3-3 draw with Leeds United. Despite his omission, Liverpool secured the victory through a late Dominik Szoboszlai penalty, lifting them to eighth place in the 36-team group stage.

While the performance was far from convincing, the result gives the Reds a more optimistic mood heading into Saturday’s Premier League clash with Brighton at Anfield.

 

In recent days, the focus has centred heavily on Salah’s uncertain future at the club. The Egyptian claimed he had been “thrown under the bus” during Liverpool’s poor run and revealed he had “no relationship” with head coach Arne Slot, even suggesting “someone doesn’t want me at the club.” The comments sparked major backlash from pundits, including former defender Jamie Carragher, who slammed Salah’s remarks as a “disgrace” on Monday Night Football.

 

Carragher accused Salah of deliberately orchestrating the moment for maximum impact, saying: “When he stopped in the mixed zone, it was clearly planned to cause the most damage and boost his own position… he did the same thing a year ago.”

 

Slot also made it clear that such public criticism is unacceptable. But how do the players feel?

 

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the win in Milan, Robertson gave his take.

 

“We’re talking about one of the greatest players ever to play for this club,” he said. “I joined in the same summer as him. Whatever’s happened has happened. Inside the dressing room, we’re united.”

 

When questioned about Salah’s future, Robertson replied: “That’s for others to decide. I love playing with Mo and I hope I get to keep doing that.”

 

He also stressed the importance of climbing into the top eight to avoid a play-off, recalling last season’s difficult draw.
