Richard Keys Claims Another ‘Very Senior’ Liverpool Player Has Clashed With Slot — Not Salah

Richard Keys claims Mohamed Salah isn’t the only Liverpool player who has lost his connection with Arne Slot, suggesting another major figure in the squad is also unhappy under the Dutch coach.

Salah recently expressed his “disappointment” at being left out by Slot, saying he feels the club has “thrown him under the bus.” His remarks followed Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds United on Saturday, a match in which he stayed on the bench for the full 90 minutes.

Before the game, Slot admitted it was a tough call to leave Salah out. The 33-year-old has featured for only 45 minutes across Liverpool’s last three matches and hinted that his time at the club may be nearing its conclusion.

Keys: Salah Isn’t the Only One

According to Keys, Salah isn’t the sole “very senior” player who has grown frustrated with Slot. Posting on X, the beIN Sports presenter said:
“It was only a matter of time before Salah spoke. He has no relationship with Slot. And there’s another very senior member of the squad who feels the same. Very senior. I told you recently — bring in Stevie G.”

Salah’s future was already under scrutiny earlier this year as his contract ran down, but he signed a new two-year extension in April. He was Slot’s main man last season, leading Liverpool to the Premier League title and winning the Golden Boot.

He featured in every league match during the 2024–25 season, yet has already been benched twice in 13 games this term. The reduced role follows a dip in his form and the team’s struggles, with Liverpool now eighth after 15 matches.

Salah Staying Only If Slot Goes?

Slot will be frustrated with the growing drama around Salah’s comments, and the situation may be heading toward a “him or the manager” scenario. Salah’s new contract keeps him at the club until June 2027, though reports continue to link him with a potential Saudi Pro League move next summer.

If Liverpool’s form doesn’t improve, the club’s hierarchy may lose patience with Slot, despite the fact he delivered the Premier League title just six months ago. The next few months are crucial, especially with Salah set to leave for AFCON duty with Egypt on December 15.

Keys has floated Steven Gerrard—currently unemployed—as a possible interim solution. Bringing back the iconic former captain might restore harmony and energy to a dressing room seemingly divided by the strained relationship between Salah and Slot.
