Salah Breaks Silence on Slot, Accuses Liverpool of “Throwing Him Under the Bus”

Mohamed Salah has publicly hit out at Arne Slot in a fierce post-match interview after Liverpool’s chaotic 3–3 draw with Leeds United.

 

Liverpool surrendered a 2–0 advantage at Elland Road on Saturday, allowing the newly promoted side to battle back for a dramatic draw. But the real shock came off the pitch.

 

Slot raised eyebrows before kickoff when he once again left Salah on the bench — even though the Egyptian winger will soon depart for AFCON duties. It was the third match in a row the Liverpool boss omitted him from the starting XI.

 

Now, Salah has broken his silence, addressing his reduced minutes in a blistering interview. He hasn’t started for Liverpool since their heavy 4–1 Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven on November 26. Since then, calls have grown for Slot to drop him due to poor form, despite the Egyptian winning the PFA Player of the Year just months earlier.

 

Salah admitted he feels unfairly singled out.

 

“I can’t believe this. I’m extremely disappointed,” he said.

“I’ve given so much to this club over the years, especially last season.”

 

He added that sitting on the bench without explanation has left him feeling “thrown under the bus,” suggesting someone at the club is deliberately shifting blame onto him.

 

Salah went further, revealing that the relationship he once had with Slot has suddenly disappeared.

 

“I was promised a lot in the summer, and now I’ve been benched for three straight games. I can’t say those promises were kept,” he said.

“I used to have a good relationship with the manager. Now it feels like someone at the club doesn’t want me here.”

 

Salah also hinted that Liverpool’s upcoming home match against Brighton could be an emotional farewell before he leaves for AFCON.

 

“I told my parents to come to the Brighton game. I don’t know if I’ll play, but I’m going to enjoy it,” he said.

“In my mind, I’ll use that game to say goodbye to the fans before I go to the Africa Cup. I don’t know what will happen after that.”

 

With constant links to a huge move to the Saudi Pro League, Salah refused to dismiss the possibility, especially given his current situation.

 

“In football, anything can happen,” he said.

“I can’t accept what’s happening now. I’ve done too much for this club to be treated like this. I don’t want to talk about Saudi because the club will twist it.”
