Liverpool’s latest Premier League stumble has sparked bigger concerns after a dramatic night at Elland Road left the team searching for answers. Speaking to Sky Sports, Dominik Szoboszlai cut through the noise with a brutally honest assessment of the situation after another lead slipped away.

 

The Hungarian midfielder admitted he had “no idea what happened after 2-0,” expressing frustration that Liverpool allowed Leeds back into the game after the penalty that shifted momentum.

 

He stressed that “everyone has to take responsibility,” saying the team must “find solutions” and show stronger mentality in crucial moments.

 

Szoboszlai had been central to Liverpool’s attacking play, including a standout first-half moment where he delivered a “Hollywood pass” to Cody Gakpo. But despite his strong performance, collective errors continue to cost Liverpool vital points.

 

This was a match Liverpool should have controlled after Hugo Ekitike’s quick-fire brace early in the second half. But the penalty conceded by Ibou Konaté changed everything, and Leeds capitalized through Anton Stach and Ao Tanaka.

 

The late equaliser means Liverpool have now conceded 10 goals from set pieces — already more than the entirety of last season — with only Nottingham Forest performing worse.

 

BBC Sport’s data showed Leeds produced 1.51 xG to Liverpool’s 1.81, and although Liverpool had 27 touches in the Leeds box, they still allowed five shots on target and too much space in decisive phases.

Szoboszlai made it clear that “what is in the dressing room stays in the dressing room,” but his message was unmistakable: mentality and organisation must improve fast, especially with Inter Milan coming up in the Champions League.
