Arne Slot Delivers Revealing Remarks After Liverpool’s Draw

Arne Slot sparked controversy with his comments about Liverpool’s display against Leeds United following their disappointing 3-3 draw.

It marked the second time in four days that the Premier League champions failed to beat a newly promoted side, adding to a growing list of poor results this season.

After a goalless first half, Liverpool exploded into life early in the second, with summer signing Hugo Ekitike scoring twice in quick succession to put them in control. But a reckless foul from Ibrahima Konate handed Leeds a way back via a penalty, and substitute Ao Tanaka later struck a late equaliser to make it 3-3.

The result increases the pressure on Slot, who surprised many with his post-match remarks. Despite winning the league just months ago, he now faces serious questions about his future, with Liverpool having won only two of their last ten Premier League games and sitting eighth in the table.

Slot insisted his team had performed well at Elland Road, downplaying what many see as one of the season’s most alarming results.

“There’s disbelief,” he said. “We played well for long spells and went 2-0 up. We weren’t under threat and hadn’t conceded a chance until the foul, which wasn’t even a real opportunity.”

He continued: “It’s not about me. It’s about us and the fans. The players worked so hard, and to concede from a set piece again—the 10th or 11th this season—is frustrating. Leaving with a 3-3 draw isn’t what we deserved. We can only look at ourselves.”

His comments angered many supporters, who accused him of avoiding responsibility and criticised his defensive substitutions after Dominik Szoboszlai had restored Liverpool’s lead late on.
