Two Liverpool Stars Told “It’s Time to Move On” Following Sunderland Draw

Liverpool supporters are calling for the removal of two players from the squad after their team was held to a 1-1 draw against Sunderland.

The draw marked another setback for Arne Slot’s side in the Premier League, leaving the defending champions in 8th place after 14 matches.

Sunderland took the lead through Chemsdine Talbi, whose long-range strike in the 67th minute deflected off Virgil Van Dijk and slipped past Alisson. While Sunderland’s advantage was deserved, it was quickly cancelled out when Florian Wirtz’s effort, which took a deflection, crossed the line.

However, the Premier League later credited the goal as an own goal by Nordi Mukiele, meaning Wirtz still has to wait for his first Liverpool goal.

Frustration among fans with their own players continues to grow this season. Ibrahima Konaté, in particular, faced criticism again during the match, despite reports that Real Madrid have dropped plans to sign him on a free transfer next summer.

One fan wrote: “Not sure what planet Ibou Konaté is on this season, but it certainly isn’t Earth—he’s all over the place again.” Another added: “I can’t believe some of the things Konaté is doing out there.”

This follows Konaté publicly responding to criticism from Jamie Carragher about his recent performances, writing on X: “We have to take this moment on the chest. Criticism is part of football, and we’ll fight back every time and come through this storm.”

Joe Gomez also came under fire from fans for his display. One supporter said: “Joe Gomez is the worst player I’ve ever seen for Liverpool—he’s terrible. I’m embarrassed to watch him play for us, closely followed by Konaté.” Another demanded: “Get Joe Gomez and Konaté off the squad.” A third joked: “I’d rather have Salah play right back than Joe Gomez.”
