Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté has taken a sharp swipe at Arsenal fans in response to comments made about star player Bukayo Saka’s recent injury.
Arsenal maintained pressure on Premier League leaders Liverpool with a commanding 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday. However, the triumph was marred by the early exit of Saka due to injury, with the winger later seen leaving on crutches.
Konaté weighed in on the situation after Arsenal fans compared Saka’s injury to his own, which he sustained last month during Liverpool’s 2-0 Champions League victory over Real Madrid.
Following Konaté’s injury, an Arsenal fan posted on social media platform X, stating: “Rivalry aside, I hope Konaté’s injury is serious.” After Saka’s setback, a Liverpool fan highlighted this comment with a caption reading, “Karma is a b****.”
Konaté responded to the Liverpool fan’s post, stating, “We are not like them, we wish no harm. Anyway, In Sha Allah, big 3 pts today.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Arne Slot provided an update on Konaté and Conor Bradley, confirming that both remain unavailable for Sunday’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur and are unlikely to return in the near future.
Slot explained the challenges of the rehabilitation process, emphasizing the importance of ensuring players are fully fit before returning to action. He highlighted the success of Liverpool’s medical staff with other players, such as Alisson Becker, while urging patience for long-term recovery.
