Liverpool sources maintain that they remain committed to pursuing the exciting transfer target.

Liverpool sources reportedly remain determined to secure the transfer of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. Despite missing out on a deal during the summer, the Spain international is still considered a priority target for the Reds.

This season, however, Liverpool’s midfield has seen significant improvement, particularly with Ryan Gravenberch stepping up his performances. This raises questions about how Zubimendi would fit into the current setup.

According to a report from Fichajes, Zubimendi is open to a move to Anfield, and Liverpool are expected to reignite their pursuit in January. Reflecting on Liverpool’s summer interest, Zubimendi told Diario Vasco: “Liverpool’s bid caught me by surprise; I was on vacation. It was an uncomfortable time, but I weighed the pros and cons and decided staying at Real Sociedad was the best option.”

As Zubimendi enters his peak years, it seems unlikely he’ll remain at Sociedad for much longer. While Liverpool remain interested, Arsenal could also join the race for his signature, especially with Thomas Partey and Jorginho nearing the end of their contracts at the Emirates. This sets up an intriguing battle between the two Premier League giants for the 25-year-old midfielder.
