“Liverpool Fans Call for Starter’s Exit After Shocking Display Against PSV”

Liverpool started the match chasing a win that could have propelled them into the Champions League top eight, but they faced a challenging night against the Dutch side.

Ivan Perisic gave PSV an early lead with a penalty in the 6th minute, though Dominik Szoboszlai quickly responded to level the score for the Reds. Despite taking control afterward, Liverpool were hit hard when Guus Til scored a brilliant counter-attacking goal in the 56th minute. The evening went from bad to worse as Couhaib Driouech sealed the result with a second goal, leaving fans venting their frustrations across social media.

Virgil van Dijk, who has been inconsistent in recent weeks, struggled once again. The usually composed centre-back had a chaotic game, starting with conceding an early penalty after the ball hit his raised arm from a PSV corner. Minutes later, he was booked for a rash challenge, highlighting lapses in his defensive judgment throughout the match. Van Dijk nearly redeemed himself with a header that rattled the underside of the bar, but concerns about his mentality were raised, something almost unimaginable just months ago. One fan even noted he appeared “nervous,” contrasting sharply with his normally commanding presence.

Liverpool’s ongoing absence of Alisson has compounded these issues. While Giorgi Mamardashvili has performed steadily, the backline clearly misses the calming influence of their world-class goalkeeper. Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are accustomed to Alisson’s constant communication, and without it, the Reds have looked unsettled in their own box. While a player of Van Dijk’s stature shouldn’t be heavily impacted, the reality is that his performance reflected the team’s struggles and disjointed defensive structure.
