Arne Slot ‘Given One Clear Ultimatum’ to Hold Onto His Liverpool Role After the Crushing PSV Collapse.

Arne Slot has reportedly been given a clear ultimatum if he wants to remain Liverpool manager after yet another disappointing defeat.

 

Liverpool went into their Champions League showdown with PSV Eindhoven hoping to recover from the embarrassing 3–0 loss to Nottingham Forest. But things quickly fell apart again at Anfield.

 

Just minutes into the match, Virgil van Dijk gave away his third penalty of the season with a strange handball, allowing Ivan Perisic to fire PSV ahead. Dominik Szoboszlai struck back shortly after, but the second half brought even more frustration as Guus Til and a Couhab Driouech brace sealed a painful night for the Reds. Liverpool have now conceded three or more goals in three straight matches and have lost nine of their last 12.

 

While the problems are piling up, many supporters singled out Cody Gakpo for another poor performance against his former club, urging Slot to finally drop him.

One fan raged on X: “Gakpo is not good enough for us. He may score tap-ins but his overall play is awful. Slot has to stop starting him.”

Another wrote: “Why is Gakpo still on the pitch?”

Gakpo, who arrived in January 2023, has scored 45 goals in 146 games for Liverpool, including four this season. But despite spending over £400 million on new signings during the summer, the team has collapsed in form, and pressure on Slot is intensifying.

 

Slot is under contract until 2027, but with Liverpool sinking into one of their worst periods in modern history, talks of a possible dismissal and potential replacements are growing louder.

 

After the defeat to Forest, Fabrizio Romano stated that the club has not opened talks with any manager, but the board expects an immediate turnaround — better performances and better results — as patience is running thin.
