Mo Salah Criticised as ‘Disgraceful’ After Incident in Liverpool vs PSV Game

Mohamed Salah has come under heavy fire for what critics are calling a “disgraceful” moment in the loss to PSV Eindhoven, as Liverpool sank even deeper into their struggles.

 

 

 

Liverpool were humiliated 4-1 at Anfield in Wednesday’s Champions League clash.

It marks their second European defeat of the season after the loss to Galatasaray in September. Arne Slot’s side have now dropped three straight matches, conceding 10 goals, and the pressure on the manager is rapidly intensifying. Liverpool have now suffered nine defeats in their last 12 games across all competitions.

 

The fallout after the PSV defeat has been fierce. Fans and pundits alike have torn into the team — and Dietmar Hamann singled out Salah in particular.

 

 

 

Hamann urged Slot to bench Salah, condemning his involvement in PSV’s second goal. Mauro Junior skipped past Salah deep in PSV territory, and the Egyptian allowed him to run nearly 30 yards before Guus Till finished the move.

 

Speaking on RTÉ Sport, Hamann said:

“There comes a time when certain players need to be dropped. Slot has a choice — does he go down with Salah, or does he try to save his job without him?”

 

He added:

“What Salah did for that second goal was unacceptable. Slot should’ve taken him off immediately. For a player of his quality, it was disgraceful to watch him let that player run by without lifting a finger to help the team.”

 

Salah has only five goals this season, a stark contrast to the 34 he scored last year. He looks far from his usual form — though Steven Gerrard insists any Liverpool manager would still have to play him.

 

Speaking on TNT Sports, Gerrard said:

 

 

 

“They’re in a really tough place. Any manager at Liverpool right now would still start Mo Salah. They need all their best players on the pitch if they want any stability. They’re conceding too many goals, they’re wide open in transition, and they look vulnerable every time they lose the ball.”

 

Salah will now look to get back on track when Liverpool return to Premier League action against West Ham United on Sunday.
