Steven Gerrard has delivered an impassioned assessment of Arne Slot’s future as Liverpool manager after their shocking 4–1 Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night.

Speaking on TNT Sports, club legend Gerrard insisted that despite Liverpool’s dreadful run, the situation should not yet be labelled a full-blown “crisis,” calling it instead a “rut.”
“You said rut — and I agree,” Gerrard explained. “But with every defeat, especially ones like this, you edge closer to a crisis.
“Crisis, for me, is when a club needs years to recover. Liverpool aren’t anywhere near that stage. There are still fantastic players here — most of this squad won the league four months ago. Calling it a crisis would be too much.
“What we’re seeing isn’t acceptable. No excuses — everyone knows that. But saying ‘crisis’ disrespects the players who have delivered for the club, and the manager who delivered only three months back.
“If this continued for another six months or a year, maybe then you could use that word. But not yet. Still, you can’t pretend the team isn’t really struggling. They’re on a dreadful run, confidence is rock bottom, they keep conceding, they’re too open, and unless the manager finds solutions quickly, it will keep happening.”
