Crystal Palace’s stance on Marc Guehi’s future amid transfer interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.

Crystal Palace insiders reportedly believe that if Marc Guehi is to leave in January, Liverpool are the most likely destination, despite interest from several major clubs.

The England defender came close to joining the Reds in the summer — a move BBC Sport noted collapsed late on — and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, his future remains a key storyline. Given his strong performances for Palace, many top sides are expected to be interested in him as a free agent, with the Daily Mail highlighting Manchester United as another potential suitor.

However, Sky Sports claim Palace feel that if Guehi moves mid-season, Liverpool will be the only club ready to act, as other teams are more likely to wait until he becomes available for free next summer.

Liverpool seen as the frontrunners for Marc Guehi

Although his transfer to Anfield didn’t materialise in the summer, negotiations had reportedly progressed far, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Guehi still favours a switch to Arne Slot’s team.

Looking at the current Premier League standings, Liverpool sit far lower than Arsenal and Manchester City when ranked by goals conceded. With Virgil van Dijk beginning to show signs of decline, there’s a clear opening for a high-level centre-back like Guehi to reinforce the defence.

Had Liverpool managed to sign him in the summer, they might not already be slipping out of the title race before December.
