“Liverpool Legend from 2020 Title Squad Spotted at Unexpected Club While Searching for New Home”

One former Liverpool player from the 2019/20 Premier League-winning squad has returned to England in search of a new club—and his latest sighting is sure to catch the attention of Merseyside fans.

Jurgen Klopp brought Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Anfield at the start of his third season in 2017/18. Over six years with the Reds, the midfielder became an English, European, and world champion while also lifting both domestic cup trophies.

After leaving Liverpool in 2023, Oxlade-Chamberlain spent two seasons with Besiktas. The Turkish club sought to reduce his wages this summer, ultimately releasing him in August. Since then, he has been a free agent.

Recently, the former Liverpool man was spotted back in England—but not at the club where he lifted the Premier League five years ago. Sky Sports [via GOAL] shared footage of Oxlade-Chamberlain training with Arsenal’s under-21 squad. The 32-year-old has returned to London to maintain fitness while exploring new opportunities, having originally left the Gunners to join Liverpool in 2017.

At first glance, it might seem odd for an ex-LFC player to appear at one of their biggest rivals. However, Oxlade-Chamberlain spent the same amount of time at both clubs—six years. It’s still unlikely he will sign permanently for Arsenal unless it’s a situation similar to Jay Spearing, who plays as an overage player for Liverpool’s under-21s while also working as a coach in the academy.

During his time at Anfield, Oxlade-Chamberlain delivered some unforgettable moments, including a thunderous strike against Manchester City in the Champions League and a long-range goal in the 5-5 Carabao Cup thriller against Arsenal in October 2019.

At 32, he still has time to add a few more chapters to his top-level career, and it will be intriguing to see where he lands next. Regardless of where he goes, his contributions during the Klopp era mean he will always be warmly welcomed back on Merseyside.
