Liverpool ready to part ways with 26-year-old Cody Gakpo after disastrous showing vs Man City

Liverpool are reportedly prepared to listen to offers for Cody Gakpo after the 26-year-old’s disappointing display in the heavy defeat to Manchester City last weekend.

The Dutch forward endured one of his most difficult games in a Liverpool shirt as the Reds fell 3–0 at the Etihad, with his performance drawing criticism from sections of the fanbase and raising further questions about his long-term role under Arne Slot.

According to sources close to the club, Liverpool’s hierarchy are now open to parting ways with Gakpo as early as the January transfer window, should a suitable offer arrive. While the Dutch international has shown flashes of brilliance since his arrival from PSV in January 2023, consistency has remained an issue — and the frustration around his form appears to have reached a tipping point.

Slot is believed to be pushing for attacking reinforcements, and moving Gakpo on could help free up both squad space and funds ahead of a crucial second half of the season.

Gakpo, who arrived with major expectations, has scored some important goals for the Reds, but Liverpool feel the time may be right for a reshuffle in their forward line as they look to revive their Premier League campaign.

More updates are expected in the coming weeks as the club prepares for what could be a busy winter window.
