“Chelsea Close in on Liverpool Target, South American Prodigy Touted ‘Best in His Age Group’”

Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of securing South American sensation Deinner Ordonez, with Fabrizio Romano delivering the major update.

The Blues appear to have acted swiftly to seal a deal for the highly-rated youngster — a player Liverpool were also monitoring closely, according to the Daily Mail. Journalist Lewis Steele even stated that youth scouts consider Ordonez “the best player of his age group in the whole of South America,” as relayed by Empire of the Kop.

Romano broke the news with his trademark confirmation:

“EXCLUSIVE: Deinner Ordonez to Chelsea, here we go! Full agreement reached today for the 16-year-old defensive talent to join the #CFC project. Independiente del Valle have accepted all conditions, with Chelsea moving ahead of three top European clubs. The Ecuadorian will arrive in January 2028.”

Chelsea’s owners have made it a habit of aggressively targeting the most promising teenagers across the globe, and Ordonez is just the latest addition to their long-term blueprint at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool, who were eyeing the Ecuadorian gem, may once again be left frustrated as Chelsea continue their ruthless efficiency in snapping up elite prospects — just as they did with Estevao Willian, Kendry Páez, Aaron Anselmino, and others.

Although fans won’t see Ordonez in Chelsea’s senior squad for a few years, the club’s belief in his potential is clear. If he weren’t highly regarded, he would likely have been sent first to their sister club Strasbourg rather than being lined up directly for the long-term Chelsea project.
