Liverpool are reportedly prepared to part ways with defender Ibrahima Konaté following his disappointing display in the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.
The 26-year-old endured a torrid afternoon against Pep Guardiola’s side, with several of his defensive lapses contributing to the Reds’ collapse. According to reports, the French centre-back’s inconsistent form this season has raised serious concerns within the club, and manager Arne Slot is now open to sanctioning his departure in January.
Konaté, who joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021 for around £36 million, was once seen as the long-term partner to Virgil van Dijk. However, injuries and inconsistent performances have prevented him from establishing himself as a reliable presence in defence.
Sources claim the club’s hierarchy are ready to listen to offers for the Frenchman, with several Serie A and Bundesliga sides said to be monitoring his situation ahead of the winter transfer window.
With Liverpool conceding 18 goals in their opening 11 Premier League games, Slot is reportedly eager to reshape his backline — and Konaté could be one of the first casualties of that defensive overhaul.
