Xabi Alonso Urges Real Madrid to Launch Move for Liverpool Star After Costly UCL Defeat at Anfield

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has reportedly handed the club a four-man transfer wishlist as he looks to rebuild his midfield – and it includes two Premier League superstars from Liverpool and Chelsea.

Alonso’s need for reinforcements became even more evident after Madrid’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in the Champions League this week, where Alexis Mac Allister scored the winner with a standout performance that caught his eye.

According to Fichajes, Madrid had initially set their sights on Martin Zubimendi before his move to Arsenal, but Alonso has now switched focus to:

✅ Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool)

✅ Enzo Fernández (Chelsea)

✅ Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace)

✅ Vitinha (PSG)

Alonso sees Mac Allister as the perfect fit for his midfield – someone capable of controlling the tempo and dictating play, a profile Madrid currently lack. But with the Argentine now a key figure at Liverpool, it won’t be easy to lure him away from Anfield.

LFC fans will be desperate to keep the 26-year-old, especially after already losing Trent Alexander-Arnold to Madrid this summer. Another Liverpool star leaving for the Bernabéu would hit hard.

Meanwhile, Vitinha stands out as the most creative and technically gifted option based on DataMB metrics – particularly for passing and chance creation – but the Portuguese playmaker is considered almost untouchable at PSG.

That could make Wharton the most realistic long-term option, with the Crystal Palace youngster expected to pursue a big move sooner rather than later.

Mac Allister, however, offers the best all-round profile, especially defensively, making him arguably the most complete option for the role Alonso wants to fill.
