Report claims Real Madrid set to launch January bid for Liverpool star

Real Madrid are reportedly preparing a bid to sign Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister in the January transfer window.

The Argentine star has been one of Liverpool’s standout performers, but his future is now being questioned as we approach the next market. Journalist Indy Kaila claims there could be significant movement at Anfield over the next two windows, with Mac Allister potentially being one of the big exits.

Liverpool were active in the summer, securing high-profile arrivals such as Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, while Darwin Núñez, Luis Díaz, and Harvey Elliott all moved on.

Now, with the club looking at more possible additions, Mac Allister may be heading to Madrid…

Whether Real Madrid can put together an offer strong enough to convince Liverpool to part with such an important player midway through the season remains to be seen.

Should Liverpool sell Alexis Mac Allister?

It’s not surprising that Real Madrid admire him. At 26, Mac Allister has consistently proven himself as one of the Premier League’s most effective midfielders.

He first caught attention with Brighton before shining at Anfield, playing a major role in Liverpool’s title win last season. At Madrid, he could be lined up as a long-term successor to midfield icons Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić, fitting perfectly into Xabi Alonso’s system.

However, his performances this season haven’t quite hit the same level, and Liverpool’s difficult start may push the club to consider changes in midfield.

With Liverpool also being linked to expensive targets — including Antoine Semenyo — further sales might be necessary to stay compliant with Financial Fair Play rules.
