Fabrizio Romano has stated that Liverpool have already made a firm decision regarding Arne Slot’s future as manager. According to the transfer insider, the club are “100 percent” certain about where they stand. Slot delivered an incredible first season at Anfield by guiding the Reds to the Premier League title, but his second campaign has been far more challenging.
Liverpool currently sit seventh in the table after losing four of their opening nine league matches, leaving them seven points adrift of leaders Arsenal.
Adding to the pressure, the Reds were knocked out of the EFL Cup on Tuesday night following a 3–0 loss to Crystal Palace at Anfield. With results deteriorating, frustration among supporters is growing and questions are starting to surface about Slot’s position.
Liverpool remain fully behind Slot
Although nothing was announced after the defeat to Palace, Romano shared the club’s stance a day earlier.
“Inside Liverpool — and by that I mean the ownership, the board, and everyone running the club — there is complete belief in Arne Slot,” Romano said on his YouTube channel. “They are totally convinced he is the right manager to guide them through this moment.
“Yes, the start has been disappointing, but Liverpool are confident things will improve. They believe he just needs time to evaluate the squad, work with the new signings, and restore last season’s mentality. There is strong communication every day between Slot and the club’s decision-makers.”
Slot made ten changes to the team that lost to Brentford at the weekend, with Milos Kerkez the only player to retain his place, as several young and fringe players were given an opportunity.
Supporters have been pushing to see Federico Chiesa play a bigger role, but Slot’s rotation against Palace appeared to be made with Saturday’s crucial match against Aston Villa in mind.
Slot is aware that results must turn quickly — Liverpool have lost six of their last seven matches — and another setback could force the club’s hierarchy to reconsider their current stance.
