Liverpool manager Arne Slot has provided a worrying injury update ahead of the club’s upcoming fixtures, including Saturday’s clash with Brentford, confirming a new blow and several ongoing fitness concerns.
Slot revealed that Jeremie Frimpong has sustained a hamstring injury, ruling him out for at least the next two matches. Meanwhile, Alexander Isak and Ryan Gravenberch are both doubtful for the weekend as they continue to recover from their respective setbacks.
Adding to Liverpool’s woes, goalkeeper Alisson Becker will be sidelined longer than initially anticipated.
Speaking on Frimpong’s condition, Slot admitted the situation isn’t promising:
“Jeremie is not in a good place… it’s a hamstring injury, so that’s going to take a while,” he said, confirming the defender will miss the Brentford game and at least the following week, according to Ben Jacobs.
On Isak and Gravenberch, Slot added:
“Alex, not too bad. He’s a question mark for the weekend… same goes for Ryan.”
Both players will undergo further assessment, with final training sessions determining their availability.
Isak, who joined Liverpool in a record-breaking summer transfer, was withdrawn at halftime in the Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt due to ongoing discomfort.
“Alisson is not in the squad tomorrow. That’s also going to take a little bit longer,” Slot confirmed, meaning backup keeper Giorgio Mamardashvili will continue in goal.
