Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has called on his teammates to stay strong as the challenges of a congested football schedule begin to take their toll, warning against complacency by referencing Manchester City’s recent struggles with injuries and form.
“It’s a lot of games, and injuries are inevitable, which can affect the quality of play.
“What they’ve been facing with injuries and inconsistent performances, going through ups and downs, we’ve been there too, and it’s a tough situation to get out of and to be in.
“I won’t focus on Man City, but I understand how hard it is to experience that, and I hope we don’t go through it, though we have our own injury concerns.
“Whether it’s the heavy load of games or something else, it’s hard to say, but it certainly plays a major role, as it demands so much from your body—not just during the games, but also with the travel and flying around the world,” Virgil explained.
