Liverpool set to finalise agreement with ‘brilliant’ star

Liverpool are racing to secure new deals for several key players to prevent them from leaving on free transfers.

 

The club is focused on shaping its long-term future, with some crucial members of Arne Slot’s squad approaching the end of their contracts this season.

 

According to reports, Liverpool are in advanced discussions to extend Ibrahima Konate’s contract in order to keep him at Anfield. Real Madrid are said to be eyeing the French defender for next summer as Xabi Alonso looks to bolster his backline, but a new deal would block that move.

 

Meanwhile, Andy Robertson is also expected to enter contract talks amid growing interest from European clubs. Progress has been slow, and Liverpool risk losing their vice-captain if they fail to act quickly.

 

On Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, it was revealed that Robertson remains uncertain about his role in Slot’s long-term plans. Atletico Madrid were reportedly interested in signing the Scotsman earlier this year, and the lack of contract resolution could reignite their pursuit.

 

Diego Simeone and other European sides are monitoring the situation closely, with Robertson eligible to negotiate a pre-contract from January if no agreement is reached.

 

Former Newcastle manager Alan Pardew recently praised the 30-year-old’s “brilliant” form for Scotland during the international break, proving he still has plenty to offer at the top level.

 

Speaking on Inside Track, it was noted:

 

> “There will likely be discussions between Robertson and Liverpool to sort out a new contract, but the longer it takes, the more likely he could agree a pre-contract or leave for free next summer. If he doesn’t renew, there’ll be no shortage of offers for him.”

 

 

 

As the club works to secure contract stability, Liverpool are also setting sights on new signings.

 

Sources indicate that the Reds are leading the chase for Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, who has impressed this season. Despite a major spending spree last summer, sporting director Richard Hughes is reportedly keen to further strengthen the attack.

 

However, Semenyo’s confidential release clause poses a challenge, leaving Liverpool uncertain about the valuation. Still, given Hughes’ track record and the club’s ambition, a deal for the Ghanaian star

remains very possible.
