Arne Slot delivers significant Liverpool injury setback ahead of Manchester United showdown

Liverpool will be forced into a key change for Sunday’s clash with Manchester United after Arne Slot confirmed that Alisson Becker will miss the game at Anfield.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference at the AXA Training Centre, the Reds boss provided fitness updates on Ryan Gravenberch, Ibrahima Konate, and Alisson ahead of the 4:30pm kick-off.

“Ryan is fully fit, although we still have two more sessions to go. But as things stand, he’s completely ready,” said Slot. “Ibou has returned, started training again, and is expected to join us today. The third one is Alisson — he’s not training with us, so he’s out.”

The update brings positive news for midfield and defence, but a major blow between the posts.

Slot also confirmed that Alisson’s absence will extend beyond this weekend, ruling him out of next week’s fixture as well. “He won’t play this weekend and also not next week,” the Dutch manager added.

With the Brazilian unavailable, Giorgi Mamardashvili will continue in goal. The Georgian, who arrived from Valencia in the summer, has already impressed in his limited outings.

Gravenberch’s recovery provides a timely boost following his early substitution on international duty, while Konate’s return strengthens Liverpool’s defensive options — particularly important with United expected to exploit the wide areas.
