Real Madrid confirm boost as Trent Alexander-Arnold nears Liverpool reunion.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is aiming to return to action for Real Madrid before their Champions League clash against Liverpool. The former Reds right-back has made good progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury, and reports suggest that featuring at Anfield on November 4 is now a realistic target.

 

Real Madrid have four fixtures scheduled before their trip to Merseyside, and Alexander-Arnold is hopeful of making his comeback toward the end of that run. The 27-year-old was initially handed a six-week recovery timeline and has already completed four weeks on the sidelines.

 

The injury, sustained in the opening minutes of Real’s Champions League game against Marseille last month, came as a huge blow and added to what has been a challenging start to his career in Spain.

 

Before the setback, Alexander-Arnold had established himself as a regular starter under Xabi Alonso, but the return of captain Dani Carvajal from a serious knee injury saw him lose his place. His limited minutes ultimately cost him a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad in September.

 

Now, he faces the task of proving both his fitness and his form to regain his place for both club and country. His return to Anfield is likely to be an emotional and testing one.

 

The Liverpool academy graduate could receive a frosty reception from home supporters after rejecting a contract extension in favour of joining Real Madrid. Liverpool received a £10 million fee as part of his early release for the Club World Cup.
