Liverpool’s pursuit of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has reportedly hit a major setback, with the race for his signature now wide open.
According to Graeme Bailey of TBR Football, up to ten top European clubs are now battling to sign Guehi, meaning Liverpool’s early advantage from the summer has completely vanished.
The list of clubs in contention includes Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and Inter Milan.
Bailey explained that all previous talks and bids have effectively been reset:
> “The slate has been wiped clean with Guehi. This is a new transfer,” he said. “Every club is starting from the same position. Liverpool don’t hold the edge they once did — but that doesn’t mean he won’t end up there.”
The Palace star is now shaping up to be one of the most in-demand free agents in football, attracting attention from nearly every major club across Europe.
As for his future, Guehi faces a huge decision. While Liverpool could offer both consistent game time and a shot at major trophies, the pull of European heavyweights like Real Madrid or Barcelona may be too strong to ignore.
