This follows reports suggesting that Manchester City had emerged as frontrunners to sign him before the summer window closed — though the Brazilian ultimately stayed put at Madrid, a club that didn’t appear desperate to part ways with him.

Will Premier League clubs make another move?
If any English side decides to reignite interest in Rodrygo, it’s unlikely to be Liverpool. While the Reds are aware of the need to plan for life after Mohamed Salah — who turns 34 next July — that process is expected to happen gradually.

For now, the absence of Luis Díaz is being felt on the left wing, but Liverpool appear committed to ensuring 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha’s pathway to the first team remains open.
