Transfer insider suggests Liverpool contract renewal may happen very soon

A transfer insider has revealed that Liverpool are expected to finalize new contracts for a couple of players in Arne Slot’s current squad “soon.”

According to Transfermarkt, Liverpool have six first-team players whose contracts expire next June, including key figures like Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson, as well as promising young talents Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni.

However, it seems sporting director Richard Hughes is closer to securing contract extensions for two players whose current deals still have some time left.

He said: “Regarding Liverpool contracts, Curtis Jones is expected to be sorted out quite soon, with Ryan Gravenberch likely to follow shortly after. These two will be the next significant contract commitments for the club.”

Reports emerged earlier this week about a new contract for the Netherlands international, which aligns with his impressive performances since last season.

While Jones hasn’t featured as prominently under Slot—starting half of Liverpool’s league matches in 2024/25 and only one so far this season (according to WhoScored)—his importance to the squad is evident, as his contract renewal appears to be a priority.

There’s conflicting information on Jones’s current salary, with Salary Sport estimating his weekly wage at £67,000, while Capology and Spotrac suggest a much lower figure of £15,000.

What’s certain is that it’s been nearly three years since Jones last extended his contract, which currently runs until June 2027. Since then, he has played crucial roles in Liverpool’s Carabao Cup and Premier League successes and established himself in the first team.

The hope is that Liverpool’s management can quickly secure new deals for Jones and Gravenberch before turning their attention to keeping Konate and Robertson as their contracts near expiration.
