A transfer source has indicated that Liverpool are likely to finalise new contracts soon for a couple of current squad members under manager Arne Slot.
According to Transfermarkt, six first-team players are currently set to be out of contract next June — including key names like Ibrahima Konaté and Andy Robertson, as well as promising youngsters Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni.
However, it seems sporting director Richard Hughes is now making progress on new deals for two players whose current contracts still have more time remaining.
Liverpool closing in on contract renewals for two players
TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, provided an update on who could be next in line for extensions at Anfield.
“When it comes to Liverpool contracts, I think Curtis Jones will be sorted pretty soon. Ryan Gravenberch will be the next cab off the rank after that,” Bailey stated. “Jones and Gravenberch will be the next major deals Liverpool focus on.”
Jones has become an increasingly important figure in the squad. While he hasn’t featured regularly in Arne Slot’s starting XI — starting only half of Liverpool’s league matches last season and just once so far this term — his importance is evident in the club prioritising a new deal for him.
Reports have already surfaced this week about a potential contract renewal for Gravenberch, which makes sense given his strong performances since arriving at Anfield.
There’s some inconsistency in reported figures about Jones’ current wages — Salary Sport claims he earns £67,000 per week, while Capology and Spotrac suggest a much lower figure of £15,000. What is clear, however, is that his last contract extension was nearly three years ago, keeping him at the club until June 2027. Since then, he’s played key roles in Liverpool’s Carabao Cup and Premier League successes and established himself as a first-team regular.
Liverpool will now look to finalise new deals for Jones and Gravenberch, before turning their attention to contract talks with Konaté and Robertson, whose current deals expire at the end of the season.
