Liverpool edged past Everton with a 2-1 victory in today’s Merseyside Derby, thanks to first-half goals from Ryan Gravenberch and Hugo Ekitike, which proved enough to secure all three points.
The Reds came out strong at Anfield, with Gravenberch and Ekitike putting them 2-0 ahead within the opening 30 minutes. However, their intensity dipped again after the fast start.
Everton’s Idrissa Gueye pulled one back just before the hour mark, but unlike their recent Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid—where they squandered a 2-0 lead—Liverpool held firm this time to see out the win.

Alisson Becker – 6/10: Had a relatively quiet afternoon but still conceded. The goal wasn’t entirely his fault, though he might have done better.
Virgil van Dijk – 7/10: Solid overall, despite the team conceding. Completed 59 out of 64 passes and marshaled the backline well.
Ibrahima Konate – 7/10: Similar to Van Dijk – steady at the back and effective in distribution, but just shy of an excellent showing.
Conor Bradley – 6.5/10: Preferred over Frimpong, but didn’t stand out, particularly struggling against Jack Grealish in the build-up to Everton’s goal.
Milos Kerkez – 6/10: Still adjusting after his summer transfer, Kerkez was once again a little careless in possession and decision-making.
Ryan Gravenberch – 9/10: A commanding display from midfield – scored one, assisted another, and dictated the game throughout.
Alexis Mac Allister – 6.5/10: Played his usual steady role in midfield but didn’t have the same impact as Gravenberch. Subbed off for Curtis Jones.
Dominik Szoboszlai – 7/10: Impressive in a more advanced position, took on the Wirtz role effectively. Didn’t get on the scoresheet but influenced much of the attacking play.
Cody Gakpo – 6/10: Had a quiet game and made way for Florian Wirtz after an hour.
Mohamed Salah – 7/10: Not his most electric outing, but he still managed a smart assist for Gravenberch’s goal and remained a threat.
Hugo Ekitike – 8.5/10: Took his goal well from Gravenberch’s assist and turned in another strong performance, making it clear he intends to keep his place ahead of Alexander Isak.
