Liverpool Eye Another Major Signing Ahead of January Transfer Window

Liverpool are reportedly preparing for another high-profile signing as the January transfer window approaches.

Following a busy summer in which the Reds invested heavily in new talent—including Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giovanni Leoni, Armin Pecsi, and Freddie Woodman—they still appear to be active in the market. The club’s total spending exceeded €450 million, despite already having a squad capable of securing the 2024/25 Premier League title.

One deal that fell through on deadline day was for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, after Palace pulled out of negotiations at the last minute.

Looking ahead to January, manager Arne Slot is reportedly targeting another addition, with strong interest in Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. According to journalist Dave Ockop, Liverpool are seriously considering a move for the 21-year-old, who is also being monitored by Real Madrid. Despite multiple clubs showing interest, Wharton is believed to favour a move to Anfield.

A January transfer is possible, although it will depend on Liverpool’s strategy during the winter window. Any deal for Wharton is expected to cost over £60 million.

Wharton has made a significant impression since joining Palace from Blackburn Rovers in 2024. His performances earned him a call-up to the England national team, where he made his debut in June before being selected for Euro 2024 in Germany. To date, he has made 49 appearances for Palace.

Speaking on Liverpool’s recent transfer activity, Slot praised the club’s approach:
