Liverpool defender Joe Gomez was linked with a transfer away from the club during the summer window but ultimately remained with the Premier League champions. According to Football Insider, several clubs showed interest in signing him.
Premier League sides Brighton and Crystal Palace were among the suitors, and AC Milan also expressed interest. Despite this, the 28-year-old is in no hurry to leave Liverpool at the moment.
The club was also reluctant to let him go late in the transfer window.
Could Gomez consider leaving?
The report suggests the situation might change if Gomez doesn’t get enough playing time. Additionally, if Liverpool sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace in the upcoming winter transfer window, Gomez could drop further down the defensive hierarchy, which might prompt him to leave.
It remains to be seen where he will end up.
Joe Gomez would be a valuable addition for most teams
At 28, Gomez is a highly skilled player who has proven his quality with Liverpool over the years. He is considered one of the Premier League’s top defenders when fit, versatile enough to play as a fullback, central defender, or defensive midfielder. Besides his defensive skills, his excellent ball control and passing ability would bring better control to any team that signs him.
He clearly deserves regular playing time at this stage of his career, and it will be interesting to watch how things unfold. If he becomes available in January, many clubs are likely to be interested. It will also be worth watching whether Liverpool attempt to sign Guehi again after missing out on him during the summer transfer deadline.
