As of this morning, Liverpool have only made one formal offer for the Newcastle striker — a £110 million bid that was rejected earlier this month, according to The Guardian. While Newcastle recently signed Nick Woltemade, reports suggesting a £130 million deal has been reached with Liverpool appear premature.

Liverpool Still Hopeful on Isak Before Deadline

Late Saturday, Fabrizio Romano provided an update on his YouTube channel, saying that no agreement has been reached between the clubs or with the player’s camp. However, he confirmed that Liverpool remain hopeful heading into Sunday.

“Sources from Liverpool, Newcastle, and Isak’s camp deny any deal is in place,” Romano said. “It’s not about either club playing games — it simply hasn’t been agreed yet. But Liverpool are still optimistic.”

He added that Liverpool haven’t pursued other targets, even though several high-profile players were offered to them this week, as they remain focused on landing Isak. According to Romano, the Sweden striker still wants the move to Anfield.

Liverpool Could Make a Final Push

After Newcastle firmly rejected Liverpool’s opening offer, the Reds have taken time to assess their options, aware that a higher bid or change in circumstances would be needed. Now that Newcastle have signed Woltemade and Isak is reportedly on strike, Liverpool’s owners (FSG) may see this as the right moment to make one final push before the transfer window closes at 7pm tomorrow.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that any final deal likely wouldn’t exceed £130 million, even though Newcastle have been holding out for £150 million. The German striker’s arrival could make the Magpies more open to letting Isak leave — but only if Liverpool break their transfer record.

Another offer from Anfield is expected before the deadline. And with the situation at Newcastle evolving since the start of August, the club may now be more willing to seriously consider a sale.
