Liverpool Closing In on £130m Deal for Alexander Isak
Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United for a substantial £130m. The Swedish striker’s move follows the Magpies’ acquisition of Nick Woltemade from Bayern Munich, signaling a potential shift in their attacking setup.
Is the Isak Deal Official?
Viaplay’s Jan Aage Fjortoft shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the deal between Liverpool and Newcastle for Isak is now finalized. However, an official announcement is expected to be delayed until after Newcastle’s upcoming match against Leeds United on Saturday.

While this report hasn’t been fully confirmed by major journalists from either Merseyside or Tyneside, it hasn’t been denied either, suggesting there could be truth to it.
With Woltemade already in place, Isak’s departure seemed more likely, especially given that Liverpool’s interest had intensified. If Newcastle also strikes a deal with Wolves for Jørgen Strand Larsen, Isak’s move to Anfield could soon become a reality.
Liverpool Preparing Improved Bid
Despite criticism of Liverpool’s initial £110m bid for Isak, which would have set a British transfer record, reports suggest the club is prepared to offer more. This bid was seen as a starting point to open negotiations, not necessarily an expectation to secure the player at that price.
While Newcastle’s reported £150m valuation seemed excessive, Liverpool’s willingness to meet somewhere closer to £130m would still represent a fair deal for both sides, especially for one of the Premier League’s top talents.
New Developments: Liverpool Not Willing to Go Beyond £130m
According to updates from Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook, Liverpool is not willing to exceed the £130m mark for Isak. As of Saturday morning, Liverpool sources have confirmed there is no official deal in place yet. If an agreement is reached, it’s expected to be below the £130m figure.
With the transfer deadline approaching, it’s unclear whether Liverpool will walk away from talks. However, given the club’s focus on securing Isak, it seems unlikely they’ll let him slip away for a deal close to the £130m price tag.
Further Arrivals Unlikely at Liverpool
Adding to the uncertainty, Dominic King from The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool is unlikely to make any more signings before Monday’s transfer deadline. While talks for Isak continue, it’s expected that the only potential deal left could be Kostas Tsimikas moving to Roma.
Additionally, Crystal Palace’s refusal to let Marc Guehi leave could see Liverpool miss out on the Englishman. With Newcastle’s new signing, the £130m offer for Isak seems more appealing, but time is running out to finalize any transfers.
