There’s been a fresh update regarding the future of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.
Isak’s situation has been one of the biggest talking points throughout this summer’s transfer window.
It’s well known that Premier League champions Liverpool are keen to sign the Swedish forward.
Liverpool had an initial offer turned down earlier this summer, and reports suggested they wouldn’t make a better bid unless given a sign that it might be accepted.
Recently, Isak posted on social media claiming that the club broke certain ‘promises’ made to him, even as he continues to perform on the pitch.
This week, it was reported that Isak met with Newcastle’s board members in an effort to find a resolution with the transfer window closing soon.
Despite the meeting, it’s claimed Isak’s position hasn’t changed — he still wants to move to Liverpool.
On Wednesday, new reports surfaced giving further insight into the situation.
According to The i Paper, Newcastle is preparing for a second Liverpool bid but remains firm on a £150 million valuation for Isak.
The report said: “Newcastle United are expecting another bid for Alexander Isak as this summer’s transfer saga looks set to drag on until Monday’s deadline.”
It’s also noted that a deal for Isak could unlock several other delayed striker moves across the Premier League and Europe.
Meanwhile, Newcastle have rejected two offers for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, with a third bid expected soon.
There’s speculation that Strand Larsen might be signed before Newcastle’s upcoming match against Leeds.
On the other hand, a transfer for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa is uncertain as Brentford are reluctant to sell.
If Liverpool meet Newcastle’s asking price and Newcastle completes the Strand Larsen signing, an agreement for Isak could be finalized before the Monday deadline.
However, with Wolves unwilling to sell Strand Larsen, Liverpool may face disappointment when the window closes.
