Romano expects Liverpool to ramp up talks as FSG see ‘perfect opportunity’ in Isak pursuit

Fabrizio Romano anticipates Liverpool will intensify negotiations today for a key transfer target, with FSG identifying what they believe is an ideal market opportunity.

Throughout August, there’s been constant speculation around Alexander Isak’s future. The Newcastle striker has made it clear he wants to leave, and Liverpool’s strong interest has been no secret — including a £110 million bid earlier in the month that Newcastle rejected.

With just five days left in the transfer window, Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes is under pressure to finalize a deal. Talks with Newcastle are expected to gather pace within the next 24 hours.

Romano: Isak is Liverpool’s ‘perfect opportunity’

Speaking to DAZN Football on Tuesday, Romano emphasized that Liverpool remain committed to signing Isak:
“Liverpool have waited over a month for a breakthrough,” he said. “There’s still no go-ahead from Newcastle, but Liverpool will keep pushing. More talks are expected tonight or tomorrow. They haven’t changed their focus – Isak is the player they want.”

In a further update on his YouTube channel, Romano said Liverpool see Isak as a major chance in the current market:
“They’re fully focused on him. No other clubs are seriously involved at the moment, so Liverpool see this as their big opportunity to land a top striker. Isak is not in talks with anyone else, so this could be their moment to act.”

Liverpool set for final push as window nears close

Despite Liverpool’s interest, the deal is far from straightforward. Newcastle are reluctant to sell Isak, especially without securing a replacement. With 62 goals in 109 games, he’s a vital player for them, and they’re hesitant to strengthen a Premier League rival.

Even though Isak has expressed a desire to leave — most notably with a pointed social media post — Newcastle remain hopeful they can mend the situation.

With Sunday’s clash between the clubs now behind them and time running out in the transfer window, Liverpool may be preparing one final push for the Swedish striker.

However, Newcastle’s efforts to sign a replacement have stalled. Their two bids for Wolves forward Jorge Strand Larsen have been rejected, which complicates matters further.
