Newcastle United Issue Statement Following Alexander Isak’s Claims of Broken Promises

Newcastle United have officially responded to forward Alexander Isak after the player made critical remarks on social media regarding his future at the club.

While many of the Premier League’s top talents gathered for the PFA Awards in Manchester on Tuesday night, Isak—despite being selected for the Team of the Season thanks to an impressive 23 goals in 34 games—was notably absent.

Instead, the Swedish international took to social media, expressing frustration with Newcastle and alleging that the club had failed to honor certain promises made to him, indicating his intention to leave during the summer transfer window.

Isak has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League champions Liverpool, with reported transfer figures ranging from £120 to £150 million, which would set a British record. However, Newcastle’s newly released statement makes it clear they have no plans to sell him.

In a message shared via their official website and social platforms, the club said:

“We were disappointed to see Alexander Isak’s social media post this evening.
We want to be clear: Isak remains under contract, and at no point has any club official promised that he would be allowed to leave this summer.
While we value our players’ perspectives, our priority remains the best interests of Newcastle United, the squad, and our supporters. We’ve communicated to Alex and his team that the conditions for a sale this summer simply do not exist—and we do not expect that to change.
This club is proud of its traditions and its family-like culture. Alex remains a valued part of that family and will be welcomed back once he is ready to rejoin his teammates.”

Isak is reportedly only interested in a move to Liverpool, turning down other interest including from Saudi club Al Hilal. Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot, is said to view Isak as a top transfer target.

Nonetheless, with Newcastle unwilling to negotiate, it appears increasingly likely that Isak will stay at the club this season and will need to reintegrate with the squad in the near future.
