Marc Guehi Rejects Spurs and Newcastle as He Holds Out for Liverpool Move
According to IndyKaila News, Marc Guehi has turned down offers from both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United over the past 48 hours, signaling his clear preference to join Liverpool.
The Crystal Palace centre-back, considered one of the Premier League’s most promising defenders, is expected to leave Selhurst Park as he enters the final year of his contract.
Both Spurs and Newcastle recently made moves to bolster their defences ahead of the transfer window’s close, with Guehi a key target.
Tottenham and Newcastle Pursue Guehi
Tottenham, despite already having Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, were reportedly keen on adding Guehi to their ranks this summer. Newcastle, meanwhile, have maintained a long-term interest in the England international, having attempted to sign him multiple times last year without success.
Even with the lure of Champions League football at Newcastle or the exciting project underway at Spurs, Guehi has declined their approaches.
Liverpool Remains Guehi’s Priority
Guehi is holding out for a move to Liverpool, who have been linked with the 24-year-old throughout the summer. With Virgil van Dijk nearing the twilight of his career and fitness concerns surrounding other defenders, Liverpool are exploring options to strengthen their back line—Guehi being seen as a potential future leader and immediate asset.
Despite Liverpool not yet making a formal offer, Guehi appears willing to wait, showing clear intent to join the Merseyside club rather than committing to other suitors.
His future at Crystal Palace remains in question. While the club would prefer to retain him, they may have to consider selling if a strong offer arrives due to his expiring contract.
Former England manager Gareth Southgate has previously described Guehi as an “exceptional” talent.
