Liverpool have officially confirmed the transfer of Ben Doak to Bournemouth for £25 million. The young winger has signed a five-year contract and will wear the No.11 jersey at the Vitality Stadium.
This transfer is another key investment by Bournemouth, who are continuing to rebuild their squad under manager Andoni Iraola.
For Doak, the move offers an opportunity to step out of the shadows at Anfield and secure regular first-team Premier League football.
Despite showing potential at Liverpool, the 19-year-old winger faced limited playing time due to the club’s star-studded attack and has chosen Bournemouth to gain senior-level experience.
Liverpool included a buy-back clause in the deal, allowing them the option to re-sign Doak if he reaches the potential they expect from him. This strategy is similar to the one used in the sale of Jarell Quansah, reflecting Liverpool’s focus on long-term planning and retaining control over promising academy talents.
Doak’s choice of Bournemouth is notable given the strong interest from other clubs. Portuguese side Porto made a significant push for him, while Nottingham Forest and Leeds United also showed interest earlier this summer.
Everton considered signing Doak but did not proceed with a formal offer. Additionally, Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town had enquired about the player earlier this year.
This transfer brings Liverpool’s total summer sales to an impressive £206 million, potentially rising to £227 million once add-ons are included.
For Bournemouth, signing Doak could be a major statement. Known for his speed and creativity in wide attacking roles, he has the potential to make a significant impact. If he lives up to expectations, Liverpool’s buy-back option might be activated sooner rather than later.
