Alexander Isak has reportedly informed Newcastle United that he does not plan to play for the club again, as the Swedish striker looks to continue his career elsewhere. The Magpies’ pre-season preparations were disrupted when Isak was excluded from their tour of Asia last month.
The latest news to impact the North East is that the 25-year-old forward has already moved out of the four-bedroom house he had been living in since joining Newcastle in 2022. Initial speculation linked his relocation to strong interest from Premier League champions Liverpool, which was believed to have unsettled him.
However, new reports suggest Isak’s move was always planned and unrelated to Liverpool’s interest. Despite the timing seeming strategic, the Daily Mail has revealed a different story.
According to the Mail, Isak’s decision to leave his home was not connected to a potential transfer to Anfield. Instead, the house he had rented for three years on a yearly contract was targeted by burglars twice, leading to the move.
In fact, a family of four was imprisoned in May 2025 for repeatedly targeting Isak’s property. Local residents told the Mail that Isak and his family had intended to move following the traumatic burglaries.
The thieves stole Isak’s sports car, jewellery worth nearly £70,000, and around £10,000 in cash. Although the house was on the market during Isak’s efforts to secure a move to Liverpool, it seems the timing of these events simply overlapped.
In his victim impact statement, Isak described feeling “uneasy” and fearful that the burglaries could happen again. He said:
“On April 4, 2024, after spending the evening at a colleague’s house, I returned home to find I’d been burgled and my car stolen from the driveway. There was clear evidence of forced entry — a large safe had been thrown over an upstairs balcony, and my car was used as a battering ram to break through my gates. None of the stolen items were recovered. This attack left me feeling uneasy and worried it might happen again.”
