A significant transfer clue involving Alexander Isak has appeared on Newcastle United’s official site following his dramatic ultimatum.
Isak remains at the center of transfer speculation as the new Premier League season nears.
Liverpool, still looking to strengthen their squad, are monitoring his situation closely after having a £110 million offer turned down.
Isak has since informed Newcastle that he refuses to play for them again and doesn’t want to rejoin the team as he pushes for a move to Anfield this summer.
Despite Isak’s firm position, Newcastle has hinted at his future by listing squad numbers for the 2025/26 season on their website — with Isak assigned a shirt number despite his request to leave St. James’ Park.
He is still registered as Newcastle’s No. 14, the number he has worn since joining from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022.
Newcastle United’s 2025/26 squad numbers include:
1. Nick Pope
2. Kieran Trippier
3. Lewis Hall
4. Sven Botman
5. Fabian Schär
6. Harvey Barnes
7. Matt Targett
8. Alexander Isak
9. Emil Krafth
…and others.
Fabrizio Romano shared the latest on Alexander Isak: Liverpool have made significant signings this summer, including forward Hugo Ekitike for £79 million. They have also sold Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, and tragically lost Diogo Jota last month.
The Reds are eager to bolster their squad further as they prepare to defend their Premier League title, with Isak high on their transfer list.
Romano reports that Liverpool “will bid again” for Isak, as planned since July, but only if Newcastle are willing to negotiate his exit. No changes in their stance so far.
