RB Leipzig has intensified their efforts to sign Liverpool’s highly regarded midfielder Harvey Elliott, offering the 22-year-old a four-year deal as they begin formal talks with the Merseyside club.
Sources close to agents have told CaughtOffside that Elliott is eager for regular first-team football and is willing to leave Anfield this summer to advance his career.
Leipzig see Elliott as the perfect replacement for Xavi Simons, who is close to completing a €70 million transfer to Chelsea.
Having made only 18 Premier League appearances last season for the title-winning Liverpool side, Elliott is open to moving away to secure more playing time.
RB Leipzig’s manager Ole Werner and sporting director Marcel Schafer have already spoken directly with Elliott, presenting their plan for him to become a key player in their attacking setup.
Notably, former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, now Red Bull’s global football director, has been involved in encouraging Elliott to join the German club.
Negotiations over the transfer fee continue, with Liverpool reportedly asking for €55 million including a buy-back clause, or €65 million without one—both well above Elliott’s estimated €30 million market value.
The final fee might depend on Leipzig’s proceeds from the Simons sale, with some sources suggesting a potential compromise around €47 million.
Elliott’s creativity last season, whether from midfield or the right wing, has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs as well.
Among them, Tottenham is willing to match Liverpool’s £40 million valuation, including a buy-back option, with Elliott viewing Spurs as a strong platform to boost his chances of making England’s 2026 World Cup squad.
Aston Villa is also monitoring the situation and preparing a €35 million bid.
Despite these offers, Leipzig currently lead the race to sign the Liverpool star, with Klopp’s influence potentially playing a significant role in Elliott’s decision.
Klopp has previously described Elliott as an ‘exceptional’ talent.
