Alexander Isak reacts as Newcastle reaches final verdict on Liverpool transfer

Alexander Isak is reportedly frustrated after Newcastle made it clear that they will not sell him this summer, effectively ending his hopes of moving to Liverpool.

According to the Telegraph, Isak was informed of the club’s decision and didn’t take it well. As a result, he has been training separately from the first team and has been excluded from Newcastle’s pre-season matches. He has been told that unless he accepts that a transfer won’t happen, he won’t be included in the squad.

Eddie Howe has acted as the club’s spokesperson and was initially open about the possibility of Isak leaving after three years at Newcastle. However, the club’s Saudi Arabian owners have taken a firm stance against selling the striker.

Liverpool were informed that Newcastle would not entertain a sale after rejecting a bid of around £110 million last week. Following this, Liverpool have stepped back from negotiations and confirmed they won’t increase their offer unless Newcastle changes their position.

It’s believed that even if Newcastle signs another striker, their position on Isak’s future will remain unchanged. Howe is aware of this and has been managing the situation with the player.

Newcastle have chosen not to formally discipline Isak. He skipped the team’s pre-season tour of Asia but was later seen training at his former club Real Sociedad. The club believes a more lenient approach will make it easier to bring him back into the squad.

The club expects the 25-year-old to accept that he cannot force a transfer. Howe said that while he wants Isak back in the team, he cannot include him currently due to his behavior and doubts he will feature in the upcoming Premier League opener.

Howe commented: “We’ve had discussions, and at the moment, we can’t involve him with the group. I don’t know how long that will last, but that’s the current situation. I want Alex playing and training with us. I’d love to have him with the team. Let me be clear: there’s no part of me that doesn’t want that, but I don’t see the situation changing soon.”
