Liverpool Fans Share Opinions as Wirtz, Ekitike, and Salah Make Their Anfield Debuts

Liverpool fans have voiced their opinions on the attacking trio of Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, and Mohamed Salah, who started together for the first time at Anfield during a pre-season friendly against Athletic Club. On the same day, Arne Slot’s team faced the La Liga side twice, with the first match ending in a 4-1 win that featured goals from Darwin Nunez and teenage talent Rio Ngumoha.

Supporters React to Liverpool’s New Attacking Lineup
The trio showed some promising moments together.

When three high-profile players—two being among Liverpool’s priciest signings—play alongside each other, clashes of ego can sometimes arise, as reportedly happened near the end of Sadio Mane’s time at Anfield. However, initial impressions suggest that worry is unfounded, as Ekitike, Wirtz, and Salah combined well in front of the Kop for the first time.

The hosts got off to a perfect start with Ekitike making a clever run behind the defense, driving into the box, and delivering a precise cut-back to captain Salah, who calmly finished.

Although the goal was the main highlight, fans were also excited by other promising attacking moments. Wirtz impressed creatively with two key passes and came close to scoring twice, despite losing possession several times.

Liverpool supporters were clearly impressed, with one fan commenting: “This football is insane. The way Wirtz, Ekitike and Salah just connect effortlessly… real hoopers.” Another added: “Wirtz, Ekitike, Salah—man, who let that happen?”

A third fan said: “Wirtz, Ekitike, and Salah in the same team. This season’s going to be exciting!” While a fourth predicted: “Salah breaking the assist record with Wirtz and Ekitike.”

One supporter reflected: “Lots of good glimpses in the first half, Ekitike is so smooth, lovely assist to set up Salah. Wirtz is absolutely class. Add that to what we already have, it’s really exciting,” and another echoed those thoughts: “Lots of good glimpses in the first half, Ekitike is so smooth, lovely assist to set up Salah. Wirtz is absolutely class. Add that to what we already have, it’s really exciting.”
