Fabrizio Romano Signals Imminent Liverpool Exit for Darwin Nunez: Transfer to Al-Hilal Nearly Complete
Fabrizio Romano has strongly suggested that one Liverpool player is on the verge of leaving, with a transfer deal described as ‘350% done’ and a medical potentially taking place very soon.
On Wednesday morning, the well-known Italian transfer insider reported that Al-Hilal are close to finalizing a move for Darwin Nunez, stating that a verbal agreement has been reached with Liverpool, and the final decision now rests with the player.
Journalist Ben Jacobs later added that personal terms are nearly agreed, and negotiations between the clubs are expected to progress quickly. However, he challenged reports of a €65m (£56.6m) fee being settled, suggesting that Liverpool are still awaiting a formal offer.

In response to a discussion on X (formerly Twitter) about the potential transfer, Romano reiterated that talks between Liverpool and Al-Hilal are complete, and Nunez could head to Saudi Arabia for a medical at any time—pending his agreement to the personal terms.
He commented: “Deal between clubs is 350% done. Just waiting to finalize some player-side details. If Darwin agrees, he can fly out for his medical immediately. Club-to-club talks are fully wrapped up. :-)”
Nunez’s Departure Appears Imminent
Despite some minor differences in reporting, it’s clear that Darwin Nunez’s proposed move to Al-Hilal is rapidly progressing and now feels inevitable. According to TEAMtalk, the striker has given the green light to the move, indicating that agreeing personal terms likely won’t be a barrier, and the transfer could even be finalized before the Community Shield this Sunday.
It seems increasingly likely that Nunez’s final appearance for Liverpool came in the recent 4-1 win over Athletic Bilbao—where he scored the team’s second goal. He is now expected to depart with a Premier League winners’ medal in hand, earned during the 2024/25 season.
Liverpool are likely to recoup most of the £64m they spent to sign him in 2022. That would be a reasonable return for a 26-year-old still under contract for three more years, who—despite facing criticism during his time in England—managed 40 goals across 143 appearances for the club.
With Romano stating that Nunez could depart “at any moment,” his exit now seems to be just a matter of time, marking another significant change to the squad that lifted the Premier League title just a few months ago.
