Liverpool Maintain Strong Interest in Marc Guehi as Centre-Back Search Continues
Liverpool remain seriously interested in signing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, according to sources speaking to Football Insider.
The 25-year-old is now in the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park and has informed the club he won’t be signing a new deal.
With Jarell Quansah completing a £35m move to Bayer Leverkusen and Joe Gomez sidelined with an Achilles injury, new manager Arne Slot has just two senior centre-backs available—adding urgency to Liverpool’s defensive recruitment.
Sources claim the Reds are still quietly pursuing Guehi and are expected to approach Crystal Palace again in the coming weeks.
Back in June, Football Insider reported exclusively that Guehi prefers a move to Liverpool over interest from Newcastle and Tottenham.
Palace Unwilling to Budge on Guehi Price
Although Guehi is widely expected to leave this summer due to his contract situation, Palace are standing firm on their valuation—reportedly around £50 million. Former Man United scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that the club won’t be pressured into selling below that figure.
Despite interest elsewhere, Guehi is said to be prioritising regular playing time ahead of next summer’s World Cup. That means he could potentially remain at Palace if he isn’t guaranteed a starting role elsewhere.
However, Arne Slot is reportedly ready to offer the England international a starting place, especially with Ibrahima Konaté’s future uncertain. The Liverpool manager is expected to speak directly with Guehi if talks progress and could provide reassurances over his role in the squad.
Isak Pushes for Liverpool Switch Amid Ongoing Interest
Alongside their centre-back pursuit, Liverpool remain active in the market for attacking reinforcements. Alexander Isak continues to be a target, with Football Insider previously reporting that Newcastle suspect Liverpool are deliberately making their interest public to unsettle the striker.
Following those reports, Isak has now informed Newcastle of his wish to leave and is reportedly willing to reject interest from Saudi clubs in order to join Liverpool.
The Reds may push ahead with a move if Isak actively pushes for the transfer—despite recently signing Hugo Ekitike.
